A full-size collection, this 18-piece set thoroughly outfits a chef, as well as eight steak dinner guests. Each Gourmet knife is stamped from a single piece of high-carbon stainless steel, honed by hand, and hardened by the Friodur ice process, for maximum strength and stain-resistance. These knives boast a full tang, which is triple-riveted to a contoured handle made of Novadur polypropylene. This construction is impact-resistant, comfortable to hold, and durable. Complete with its own storage block, the set includes a 4-inch paring knife, a 5-inch serrated utility knife, a 6-inch utility knife, an 8-inch chef's knife, an 8-inch carving knife, and an 8-inch bread knife, as well as a meat fork and eight steak knives. A 9-inch steel for sharpening and a pair of kitchen shears are also included. The set is safe for the dishwasher, but washing by hand is recommended. Henckels includes a lifetime warranty. --Emily Bedard What's in the Box great knives at a very good price The knives are attractive, nicely balanced and as sharp as they should be. The block conveniently puts steak knives and food prep cutlery together. A cleaver would have been nice but this set is still a great buy. Good knives but not $THAT$ good. I am an accomplished cook and always thought I wanted a matching set of good knives but the price was prohibitive. When I saw the great sale at Amazon I could not resist. They are good knives but I would have been very dissapointed in them had I paid full price. There are other knives at a lesser price that are comparable. High Quality Knife Set! Wow! These are world renowned for their quality, warranty, and craftmanship and lived up to every expectation- this is a great set at a great price. The German cut This is a great set of knives. The German steel and not a China "knock off" is great. The value is outstanding! The set fit our needs perfectly and we have enjoyed having a fine set of knives. Couldn't recommend them more highly.
